We are starting day 10! Spent the night in the town of Castrojeriz.

After a week of chilly weather, we finally had some sun and warmer temps yesterday. We spent one night in Madrid, a couple nights in Logroño, then taxied to Viana to begin where we left off (or very close for me) last August.

Cindy’s friend, Melissa, met us in Viana and we walked to Logroño for our first walking day.

We have since overnighted in Logroño, Ventoso, Azofra, Santo Domingo, Tosantos, Ages, Burgos (where we took a rest day), Hornillos and now Castrojeriz. We met up with one of our Camino family members in Hornillos, where he left off last year. It’s been so fun to see Onno, and walk and laugh together.

Every town has a church and/or cathedral or monastery – many of the churches are very simple and the cathedrals over the top opulent. The views have been amazing. We’ve enjoyed tostadas and cafe con leche for every (at least second breakfast), good wine, sangrias, or cervesas, great food, fun people. And of course chocolate croissants!

We’ve covered over a hundred miles – my legs still ache every day but I had a conversation with them today and told them they need to suck it up because we have about 400 miles left to go.

It’s wonderful and amazing to be back.

I’m finding it difficult to keep up with posts, but I have been trying to post short synopsis on FindPenguins: https:findpenguins.com/fernwehtales

I look forward to each day and new adventures and friends!

More pics later!
