In 113 days, I’ll be boarding a plane to Madrid, Spain to begin my Camino adventure. I’ve wanted to walk El Camino de Santiago ever since I’d seen the movie ‘The Way’ almost 8 years ago – the impetus for so many who also watched it. If you haven’t seen it, take the time. It’s a wonderful story about a father and son and the 500 mile walk across northern Spain.
In preparation, I’m learning Spanish – ¿Cómo está? 🤓 – making lists of things to pack and buy, researching the albergues where we’ll be staying and generally just being obsessed with the idea that, once I arrive, my one daily task for five weeks will be to walk from one village to another with all that I’m bringing with me on my back. I’m beyond excited.
I’ll be sharing this adventure with my best amiga. We plan to walk separately and together – giving us each an opportunity to experience the trail in our own way. No one, it’s said, finishes the walk the same person that began. I’m looking forward to meeting that person when I get to Santiago.
Blisters and wet socks.
Perhaps rolling down the hills on your side will help during those times of soreness.
Remember there will be times a car passes you, or a bicycles cycles by, and…
Walks like these may be where the saying “stop and smell the flowers came from.”
This will be wonderful and exciting! I can’t wait to read along with my feet up while I am eating nachos and drinking ice water, occasionally chewing the ice just to hear the crunchy sound
Be safe and enjoy viewing the oldest known human remains
Thanks, Lance! Wet socks, maybe, but NO blisters!! 😁
EXACTLY 100 DAYS FROM NOW … but who’s counting. 🥰
I am excited and honored to be sharing this incredible adventure with you, my amazing fellow peregrine! Thank you for trusting me to be part a once in a lifetime journey!
I’m counting!! 😀 That works both ways, mi mejor amiga! It’s going to be epic!
Looking forward to following you along on your great adventure! Bon voyage!
Thanks, Mark! It’s even quite an adventure so far! And hard to find time to get posts up. But hoping to get caught up this week. 😊
