22 days to departure! š
Itās been a rather surreal seven months since that fateful day back in August. Things happen in life sometimes that you just canāt make up. Unless you write novels. Ha.
Such asā¦ A few days before Christmas I receive a photo, via text, of Cindy in a cast! What the ā¦?! I call her immediately. Apparently sheād gone roller-skating with her granddaughters for their birthday. Taking things slow for a bit, as she hasnāt been on a skating rink in quite a few years, itās going well; so she gets more confident and decides to do some turns. Ah, not the best idea she finds out as she takes a tumbleā¦ backwardsā¦ on her wrist. It swells up, and hurts like crazy, so she decides sheād better get an x-ray. Broken! And a week later, surgery. Luckily, sheās now healed up and working on getting her strength back.
My recovery had a small setback as I had more surgery on my elbow in February to remove a protruding screw, attached plate, an errant bone fragment and another loose screw. Will be doing PT until I leave. But Iāve made good progress.
The surgeries and healing process have given me an appreciation for anyone whoās ever been injured and having to regain movement and strength in any part of their body. And I think Iām supposed to be learning patienceā¦? Yeah, still working on that!
Anyway ā now weāve both ābeen there, done thatāā¦ no more broken stuff!!
Once we acclimate for a couple days in LogroƱo, weāll taxi to Viana and start the rest of the walk from there. And go on to Finisterre – āthe end of the earthā. Itāll be spring this time and we look forward to the sights and smells of that season as well as meeting new people. Weāre also hoping to meet up with one of the pilgrims we met last fall. Onno will be walking another section of the Camino and the plan is to meet him where he left off last year.
I think of the Camino every single day and have a hard time focusing on anything else.
We are so excited and so ready!
The desire was stronger than all the fears I had.
What an exciting and eventful life we lead. š Counting the days along with you …

Don’t we though? Haha! ā¤ļøā¤ļø
Calvin Coolidge – āNothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Love the quote – thanks, Lance!
